BACKGROUND

The African Union’s Agenda 2063 acknowledges that Africa will be a continent where the critical role of women in Africa‘s transformation is recognised and proactively harnessed. The Covid 19 Pandemic has brought the world into a standstill and the much needed women’s progress has been disrupted in an unprecedented way. As the world continue to struggle with the pandemic, there is an urgent need to increase the representation of women in decision making positions to pave the way for the deployment of a long lasting developmental transformation. The Future is Female Virtual Roundtable events aim to bring together influential women leaders, decision makers and development partners to engage in a dialogue on the importance of increasing women’s participation in decision making in various sectors of economy as a tool to fast-track the African recovery from the impact of pandemic.

To highlight leadership role women are playing during this crisis.

To strategise on how to accelerate women’s participation in decision making. To facilitate networking with stakeholders and exchange of opportunities.
